I have experimented with several different mold making materials in the past. Here is my take on it. If you are wanting to make baits for just you and your friends and have the time to fool with it, then RTV is ok to play around with. I found that it really does make all the fine details in a bait. It is not real hard to work with once you figure it out, however you might spend a little bit more money than you want to spend until you get it figured out. I also find that it was just too time consuming and to aggrevating to do small baits very well for like crappie fishing. I had to trim too much and some of the baits did not turn out right and wasted a lot of plastic messing with it. It seems to work better with larger baits. This was just my take on it. Some people like it and do well with it, but it is just not for me. I have tried the plaster too and liked it least of all. I also tried the bondo resin, it worked fairly well, but still not my cup of tea. I went into the injection molds and have never looked back. I would do the injection over but will not mess with the others again. just my take on things. you might like it yourself and I wish you lots of fun with it.
