Both! As well as to avoid shoveling all that snow in Ohio! James, save a few crappies for me. I do get to the Akron or Columbus area at least once a year. Usually when there is no threat of snow...say July or August. :-)

Correction! My friend "G" has 5 ponds on his property. I'm just sayin.........................
When he gets tired of them he can relocate one to my yard. :-) He goes fishing every morning. I sit here with tears in my eyes because we live 4.5 hours away. However, the slabs in Alabama are twice the size of those dinks in Mississippi. You just have to drive to Guntersville, Neely Henry or Weiss Lake to get them. I try and go when I finish the "Honey do" list...but da wife, and church duties, keeps adding to it. I may get out fishing about 3 times a month.
we also can go fishing every morning pretty quick now is a smallmouth bass will be coming up the River in we are only 5 min. away from crappie fishing.
Dang it all Snake River. You and G are gonna make me move real soon. I need to fish your baits every day. Today I could only paint minnows and put marabou on the Jelly Jigs. Closest fishable water is 1.5 hours away. You and G are blessed. He's probably out fishing now dadblasteditallanddadgummitall.
This will make you feel better Ship.....Hook One and I left out early this morning and fished 6 hrs. and we got skunked......I talked to people in at least a dozen boats and they were not catching either so that made us feel better. We needed Jeepguy and his son with us I guess. Anyway marked lots of fish on the fish finder but they were not biteing. Jelly jigs, shad stingers, and rooster jigs....nothing. They were just not hungry. I think the little cool snap we had beginning of the week turned them off. Maybe they will get right in a couple of days of warmer temps. The Terrova worked great.....I love Spot Lock....fantasitc.
Oh....I forgot....we still had fun...sure beats working or hanging around the house.
Watch my mailbox? Or watch Ships mailbox? or watch both mailboxes, lol
G you are trying to confuse me I met ships mailbox.
Have you got my address???? ha ha ha RoflRoflRofl
Ship must be taking a nap
Some of the guys fishing the crappie tourney at Grenada came up skunked.....They bit good over there last weekend.....its wa sreal slow there all this week according to the reports that I have got. I did spend some time today though studying the bottom with the new sonar and I learned a lot about the lake that I didn't know and this is my home lake, been fishing it for years and years.
Way to do your home work. You get A+ for effort. It will pay offer you the next time you go. I still believe in Bob's jigs because I have seen them work on bull Shell-crackers and bull bream with my own eyes. I have caught some 11 inch crappie on the 2" minnow but I am still looking for a true slab to hit that or an icicle soon.
I get the bisquits on the way to the lake......lunch is under the seat of the boat, vienna sausage, sardines, beenie weenies, potted meat, develed ham, spam, crackers....all that delicious stuff that is good for your collesteral, lol. Remember food tastes better when you got fish slime and worm dirt on your hands. Thumbs Up Wash it down with a caffene free diet coke or a cup of half caff out of the thermos.
ou guys making me hungry right now lol...
yes I can remember when I was a kid fishing I would be putting worms on my hook all day and eat a sandwich never thought about getting sick or anything else I've done that 1 million times and many times have you been down on a split shot and you are still living art you.
Where is the shore lunch G?
That is enough fooling around on this thread. Let's get back to talking about fishin and baits before a super super mod moves this to off topic or something. We all want to be like Bob and David. Thank God for blessing them with fishable water so close by.
I am going to find some fishable water next week. I have David's address :-)
fishable water is easy to find....I am looking for some thats catchable, lol
words of wisdom sir....we fished 2 tourneys this weekend, and couldnt find nothing but barely legal sized fish......we caught more fish than I think I ever have in 2 days, just no size....was still fun.....jig bite was good, SNAKES jigs (icicles) produced awesome.....oh well we will be back at them this weekend, hopefully with better results as far as size, cant lie though.....was a ton of fun catching so many fish.....the icicles held up awesome....
SNAKE .....i got the package in the mail yesterday, thank you so much!!!!!!! you sir are the man!!!!!! they look awesome!!!!!
hope all is well with every one, God bless!!!!!
Its got to get better James.....we just had a bad day....still had fun though and it does beat working.
I was watching the weather channel today guys in your weather is going to get terrible you've got tornadoes and stuff forecasted for back to their country we had a snow squall schools through today but it still managed to get up to about 65 recap the 60s or highs the rest of the week but some rain with it.
Only caught five crappies yesterday. All hit icicles though. Had fun though. It was dangerous trying to stand on a laydown in the water. Will post a photo later today. The fillets were tasty.
Dadgummit.....the man wastes no time....he's already ate them
Brother I'll tell ya.... We went from having such high water that the parking lots for the boat ramps were part of the lake, then the corp of engineers dropped the water so low all but 2 of the ramps were unusable......yesterday we was back in the parking lots far as lake levels, today looked like they blew water out so hard we are close to summer pool.....geez.....talk about varying conditions......the Ohio rivers been so up & down I haven't even got out on it yet.......but like you said, sure beats being at work ha ha, our forecast shows rain all next week also.....and the roller coaster continues ha ha ha........oh well if that's the biggest problems I encounter, then I got it made!!!! Hope everyones well, have a great one, God bless all.
Well these have been the biggest of the season so far for me. They biggest were 15"; 16: and a pig of one at 17.5" Three of us, (Tim, Tony and me) were fishing from the shore at first. we kept casting toward the tree laydown and I kept losing icicles and jigs in the tree as did others. After losing about 20 jigs tony got the bright idea of walking out on the limb and vertical jigging. When he started to catch fish I timidly ventured out on the log itself and also verticle jigged. The tree was in 5' of water and wer were shaking jigs at about 2 feet down in the thickest branches.
We caught several 9 and 10 inch dinks and then some big boys came in. My crappies were caught on red/white icicles. That catfish hit a 2' grey and black minnow. All lures were made by Bob's jigs and tipped with crappie nibbles. It was a great day. I only stayed on the log about an hour til my ankles hurt, but it sure was fun!
