sweet looking pond, you need to let me clean all those gills out for you and put them in my freezer. I would love to have a pond like that. I only hve about 4 acres of land, so I do not think I will put a small pond on it. If I had the money to buy the adjoining land I woud have a pond.
G where does the water come from for your pond I believe that your country is just as beautiful it is ours I kind of like the looks of where you live I would imagine you have lots of critters like possum raccoons and Fox maybe even a coyote ,
Yep got all those critters for sure.....The water comes from rain Bob.......There are several acres of land that drain rain water into my pond. I do have a over flow spillway and I have it screened off so fish will not go out the spillway.
G does the pond ever go dry on you and how deep is it I think it's pretty cool that that holds water all to the year I didn't think the you guys got that much rain right there.
The pond never goes dry, It is 14 feet deep out in front of the dam........the most water it ever loses on a extra hot dry summer is only two feet. I have 5 ponds on my farm
Yeah, fish one each day of the week and then go to the big lakes like Grenada on the weekend. Glad your boat is coming along nicely. Slab will be impressed especially after having such miserable weather and being shore bound while he was here. We both had rain suits at the ready but the crappies were deeper than we could cast from shore. There was no boat to rent either. Be sure to use Bob's jigs and Slab sauce when you fish with Ed. I have a feeling your nets will break from all the fish.
G wow five ponds are all of them the same size and I wouldn't assume that they all have fish in them. You would definitely keep the critters very busy around the ponds I would imagine that you have a ton of wildlife.
There are farm ponds all over down here.....most are stocked and I have permission from all the neighbors to fish in theres.....thats why I have the four wheel drive ATV. I also have a 10 ft. jon boat with a trolling motor that I can slide in the back of my truck to fish some of the watershed lakes in the area. So many places to fish gives me some good oportunities to test new baits and jigs out. I usually fish some where early every morning in the summer.
Every morning???????? God has indeed smiled on you!!!!
Plus a new tricked out boat...............
Snake River needs to move to Mississippi and set up shop!
Man oh man David. I thank you for making me jealous :-)
Come go fishing with me Ship
I just noticed you were in MS. A good friend of mine moved over there and i saw where you mentioned the watersheds. I do nto know what part of MS but he mentioned the watersheds and wants e to come fish some with him. Sometimes the crappie catch is over 200 a day. He said they do not get fished much and that they are loaded with crappie. He showed me some huge bass pics from them also.
I hope he has some folks fishing with him because the limit on crappie is 20 per day on the COE reservoirs and 30 a day everywhere else.
you definitely got that right ship I think I'm going to move right beside G he has a brand-new boat everything that you could ask for all I have to do is throw my fishing pole in and away we go not to mention all those ponds he has all around him I would deftly have a field day.
Just think Ship is only a three or four hr. drive from me. But you guys are right....the Lord has been good to me and blessed me in so many ways. I thank him for that everyday.
OH Bob, you don't even have to throw your pole in as I have 10 in the boat right now and some more in my shop.
G sounds like me when I go fishing I have more rods and the boat then I know what to do with I bet you ship and me and you have enough rods to start a sporting goods.
Sometimes I fish with 8 at the same time....its called spider rigging or slow verticle trolling. Attachment 58862
G looks like you're out to get them with all rules rods I have enough trouble fishing with one let alone eight it's illegal in the state of Oregon only in some places you are allowed 2 rods.
Its not that much trouble once you get set up right and get used to it. Wally Marshall has a good video showing how to do this. The first time I tried it it looked like a three ring circus, lol......but I finally got organized and it got better. Its a lot of fun....I really like trolling.
Ha ha ha.....we got a long way to go to do that, lol
G.....spider rigging is fun huh..... we are a 2 rod per person state, but my son & I still do it certain times of the year, he is gonna be 11 the 15th of this month, let me tell ya, that little guy is amazing when we spider rig, he's fast on the hook set & notices bites faster than me alot of times.....hes good....
SHIP..... if your ever back in Ohio I have a open seat for you also....one of my favorite crappie rods I have is a 10ft uglystick crappie rod.....
SNAKE.....you moving down south?????.....G has plenty of poles for you ha ha ha ha.....but you cant get his truck dirty.....
I will get my truck dirty for slab crappie ......but thats all, lmao
I have a friend from Indiana that moved down here about 14 years ago......he will tell you that he was not born in the south but he got here as fast as he could, lol.
G, these particular ones he said that nobody fishes much at all. He said you have to cross private property to fish these and most people wont battle the land owners. He said something about they are open to the public but you have to use a creek or something to access them or something like that if I understood him correctly. So if I picked up on what he was saying right, that not much fishing goes on there and so therefore it is loaded with fish. I have not seen any of the pictures of the crappie from there, but I have seen pictures of some bass, and they were very nice size fish. You make me jealous with your nice pond though. I sure wish I had one. Let me ask you this, is it a nesting ground for mosquitos real bad? I thought of a small one on my property but not sure.
I have no mosquito problem....I mow and weed eat all around the pond to the water....keep it very clean....the bluegills and shellcrackers do the rest, Lol.
now you are making me really jealous, my favorite food
