    Default An Idea

Ok everyone, I have an idea for a mold that I think would work well. I just thought I would get your opinion on it. Okay first of all I do not use crappie nibbles on my jigs. I have tried them in the past and they actually caused me to catch less fish. I think the problem was because it changed the look and presentation of the jig. I know with a tube you can use a bait pump, but for solids it is hard to use the nibbles. I thought if I could have a mold made where it left a small open hole in the bottom or belly of the shad, then you could just insert a nibble to fill the hole. It would give it the scent and would not alter the presentation any. I am adding some pictures I tried to work up of what it might look like. Do you think this idea would be good.

Sounds good to me seeker. You could use one of those injectors made for injecting nibbles. that is already there. Just coming up with a mold to make a stinger with a cavity to fill with scent has yet to be done that I am aware of.CF

It really would not be that hard to do. Just make the mold as normal and then drill a small hole and insert a dowel pin or small peg I think would work fine.

I've never used crappie nibbles before but the idea sounds like a winner. Now saying that do the nibbles dissolve??? and would the nibbles affect the plastic bodies??? The only other thing that I'd think of depending on the size of the cavity is the motion of casting your bait out gonna throw the nibble off before you get a chance to fish it???

But like I said it's a great idea, don't know how much it would cost you to get a mold made

fatman, if you make the hole small, it would be a tight fit for a while and the suction and pressure from the water should keep it in for a while I would think, it is rather sticky when wet. The nibbles shouldnot affect the bodies at all.

if you put that hole in the belly make sure the you make dill holes so it is reversed from the way that it goes. So then it will first debate back in and hold it in place better. We have had no problems with crappie nibbles staying on the hook if you guys are buying the covert stuff in the stuff with glitter. It is terrible. I only used a white crappie nibbles we use them quite a bit I by the stuff by the case. I wouldn't leave home without it. They truly work great if the fish are in a feeding frenzy you do not need them, but seeker you have a good ideal and I hope that you get some made up. I would definitely love to try some of those plastic baits out with the hole in them. I think you would have a wonderful plastic bait and one that I surely would use more nibbles if we had a place to put them like that. I believe other plastic baits also could be made this way. We may experiment by burning a hole in some of far plastic I have a soldering gun with a sharp point. They could be plunged into it to make a whole we may try this to see if it would work your Shad stingers you may be able to split the belly with a knife and slide a crappie nibble and their that's one of the reasons why I was trying to get smelly fish oil stop you add into the plastic. I truly would love to get an oil based it had something like what crappie nibble have seen it whenever the use is a good stuff.

snake, slab makes the slab sauce in an oil base. He was very kind and sent me some to bake in with my plastics when I made them. It works good but does have a litle downside too it. I found that it stays the color and does not really blend in with lighter colors so it is best used with darker colors. Also, you need to use quite a bit if you use it when you mix it in your plastic. It does have a nice fishy scent if you use enough. When you try the solder method please let me know how it works. Like I said if it can be slipped in the hole or cavity then it does not affect the presentation or look of the bait at all.
