well if the hole is to one side, there would be nothing keeping the other side from floating as high as it can. it will float erect.

You mean to only to drill through one side of the stem and come out the bottom so the other edge won't inhibit it from floating up?

Bomboo will tend to float cause of the air chambers in the stalk. Its best to add a float to the top of each bundle to make sure it stays up for years to come. Tie the bundles together with wire and dont drill any holes. Bamboo will last 5+ years so plan ahead.

That's what I did. Drilled hole in bottom joint of the boo and ran a rope it, bout 30 sticks and then a block. I'm like you. Hope they float up. I know they will for a while. Even if they do fall over is better than nothing.

I can assure you that it will float. make sure you have suffecient wt. to hold it in place.

This a good way to sink especially in shallow water (3 to 12'). It takes 2 weights (concrete blocks) , wire or rope , the bucket lid with holes is optional to make the bundle spread out .
