I think this is being taken out of context by some guys. I don't THINK these guys TRULY believe they have the exclusive right to fish the stuff they drop for all time
. I think they just feel a bit bummed when they pull up to a hole they spent sweat and money to put out and someone else is fishing it. Nothing more, just like "Aw man....dang!" And I don't blame them.
Just like someone else stated earlier but it wasn't talked about enough. There are public deer woods all over. What if you built a ground blind, (most WMA's wont let you keep a real stand in a tree) spent COUNTLESS hours scouting to make it in the right spot then went and built it out of natural vegetation. You plan on hunting it one of the few days you have off work. You drive out there, sneak to the stand only to find some guy sitting in it. You talk to him and he says, "yeah, I stumbled on this thing while flying over the wma in my helicopter that has this new technology that thru infared can detect disturbed brush and vegetation!" "I figured some guy built it and had done his homework so I said, why bother doing it myself!" "Yep, got in here early and beat the sapsucker to it!!"
I really don't see the difference. The guy who built it will surely not say "Wow, infared huh? You are so cool! Maybe I'll get one someday! Oh well, enjoy the blind, good luck and hey, I installed a makeshift roof from palmettos if it starts to rain, it's behind the blind.....just so ya know!"
Heck no! He's GONNA be disappointed. So would you. I think this finders keepers rule may be overstretching common courtesy and ethics a bit.
Just my thoughts.
