    Rathbun lake is best at 7-15' I use hedge tops they hold fish real quick and last forever.

    That is relative to the average lake depth, water color ,and season. Nimrod is a shallow lake and average depth for our brush/condos is 8'. But we keep a few shallow as 3' in low pool to as deep as 18' in the river channel. I've seen times where you needed certain depths to catch slabs. Saw it where one June day that if you fished cover 5' or less it was hot! Talked to the other locals fishing same areas with cover 6 to 8' depths with no luck. They did'nt have anything set that shallow. At times on a shallow lake a couple of feet of water can make the difference.
