Personally, I wouldn't want to burn them, because of the mess they would make in the boat. It's good to let the needles fall off for sinking purposes though. The first time I sank some, I tried while they were green and ended up having to get more blocks to attach to them. I have heard Christmas trees only last a year or two and to me, that's a lot of work for that short of time.
