Where to put condos?

I am getting gung ho, plenty of bambo next door and not much in the way of structure in my pond. There is a creek bed that runs about 15 feet from the shore, but it is only 6 or 8 ft deep, where the deep part of the pond is about 20 ft, would I do better in the creek or deep? I know this because the dam on the pond has gone out twice, I think I can figure out about where it drops off from old pics. Or does any of this really matter?

Hey there Buffy, My Dad had a small pond when I lived at home that was only 7 foot in the deepest corner by the dam. I sank a huge cedar bush that we had pulled up, right in the deepest part, but I could still swing a minnow/cork rig to it from the bank. It was the only structure in the pond and I could easily catch crappie there after that.
I would have to agree to place some in the deep water but some on the shallower creek channel wouldn't hurt either.

if you dont a depthfinder tie a weight on a string and mark the string off every foot with a black marker drop that to the bottom and count off the feet will help you find the deepest place.

Thanks guys, I admit to being a little bit of a weenie, I just don't enjoy being on the water when it is 98 degrees, that is being IN the water temps.
Thanks for the string and weight idea, I know more or less, but there is a dropp off of about 5-8 ft, I have a depth finder, but much easier not to haul it and everything to the pond. I'm cutting the 'boo today, I'll post pics if I think they are worthy.

you might want to use the "horizontal" type condos, like Jerry makes. Basically just shoving the 'boo' thru the hole of a concrete block, and dropping that in your shallow spots (< 8ft deep). You could drop "standing boo in a bucket" types in the deeper holes. You just don't want the bambo to be visable above the low water level (or above the water's surface).
It might be a bit tricky to do from a "yak" ... but, you've probably got enough moxy to figure out how to do it.
Even a 3 or 4ft tall stand of boo in a bucket is more than they have now ... and it will provide a shady spot for them to get out of the sun.

My brother just reminded me, we DO have a jon boat, my new and cunning plan is make all my condos, put them on the jon boat and tow it out with my 'yak.
I am a little nervous about what is UNDER the jon boat, it has not moved in over a year..... .22 is going with me, and the machette (big knife thing) probably a good long spade too.

This is the first of 3 I have enough stuff on hand to make, it's going in the shallow/creekbed spot.
Suggestions? I have 2 really big rocks bigger than cinder blocks to weigh it down with.

I did it! Things did not go quite as planned. I was not counting on wind. Ended up delivering it in several trips, and got pretty wet, but it all got tied together and dropped more or less in the right place. I guess it is the right space, since they are moving in already!:D
My neighbor and his friend were taking bets on a) what in the heck I was doing b) was I going to flip c) if I would tell them what I was doing.
