IMHO, You have some very nice stuff going in.....one thing we have found, that may help if you're interested.....as Crappie reach Slab size, and are not easy food for other larger predators, they start preferring larger poles, stumps, cover, and use them more as ambush points instead as cover for safety.
If you have different types in your area, you can create a self sustainable environment.
Add Christmas trees for zooplankton, invertebrates, and small fish....dense cover for juvenile fish....and your cover...then some big fish cover. It is very hard to "fish-out" or have wild population swings, when you build an area like this and you fish it appropriately.
