I build a lot of condo's myself. So many places, but some things I think about are Time of year and weather factors. Having said that, channels or adjacent to them always pull fish. I like to think of it as an interstate system with the channel being the road. Now all you have to do is place the service exits. I also place piles in areas I can fish when it's windy.On plate shaped bottom lakes a 1' break can be huge. I always thought crappie love a cut bank, so I use that as my main format if possible. I've never placed a pile that didn't hold fish at some time, but the 300days/yr are fantastic.I never place any deeper than 20', I hope this helps.
