I think the idea is that the crete hardens around the boo, holding it in. It sounds like a good idea. Too bad the Ohio DNR doesn't allow us to do it. Something like that would be tough to hide at the boat ramp or going across the lake:D. The good thing about that set up is it wouldn't fall on it's side like bukets can.But for me, I have to stick with dragging dead falls out and sinking. Less in the boat, and only doing what high water will do anyway........That's what I'd tell the waterboys anyway:D.

Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Bamboo is boyant, and the sand and/or gravel will allow the boo to work itself loose over time and float to the surface. Crete holds it in place permanatly. I purchased the stuff to make the before mentioned monster, and will try this week if I have time.

LMBarnett, why don't you just use buckets? Each bucket holds 12-18 stalks of bamboo and only takes 50-60lbs of concrete to sink.

Try cutting slots in pipe so boo pushed through holds tight. Fill with sand and plug ends of pipe or just concrete ends tro hold in sand. Some folks use dirt , rock , sand with 4'' of crete on top to hold in buckets of bamboo. This cuts way back on amount of concrete needed.

it does not take anywhere near 50 lbs of quickcrete more like 15 we also use the small black buckets like landscape shrubs come in they take even less
15lbs of quickcrete will NOT sink a bamboo crappie condo. I know this for a fact. After building 160 of them this spring, and having one of them FLOAT with 50-60lbs of quickcrete.....it takes A LOT of weight to sink bamboo.
The only way you can use less quickcrete is to use sand, gravel, etc and then top it with quickcrete.
