Yeah, I've done this with bream a lot more than I've done it with crappie.

We boiled some bream in a cheap jug wine once, and they were pretty darn good-the wine wasn't that great, but the fish were.

You are right, boil them in shrimp and crab boil. When they are cooked make a shrimp salad out of the fillets, it's great.

    Default Really good~!

I bought some Zatarain's shrimp/crab boil and tried this last night. The directions say to use 3 quarts of water and add 4 tablespoons salt and the seasoning bag, bring the water to a boil and boil the fish for one minute. I believe it said to add lemon as well but I didn't do that part. After one minute, you turn off the heat and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

The flavor was simply awesome! I'll be doing this again very soon!

    Thanks for the great idea!~

Crab boil is good or even just salted water if you're going to chill them and then eat them with cocktail sauce.

    make your own crab boil

    8 cups water

    4 tablespoons salt

1-1/2 teaspoon cyane pepper more if you like it hot

    1 tablespoon garlic salt.

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes.
