I have had the deep fried hot dogs. Everyone that I mention it to thinks that I am nuts. I will have to try the onion. I have also deep fried bologna. Not bad. We have a deep fry night at deer camp and this is always where we try different things. You never know what will end up in the pot of grease.

Rinse & pat dry fillets, dip in the bowl described above, then add coating. The best mix I have ever found is called Fry-Magic....I've tried several others which aren't near as good. Atleast here, most grocery stores carry the Fry-Magic brand.

I dump a box (or 2, depending on the amount of fish to fry) into a large zip-lock baggie, add a handful of fillets & shake to coat. Add to hot oil & cook until golden-brown. I use a large tray lined with papertowels to put the cooked fish on to help absorb excess oil.

Dad's 85, and fished all his life.....and claims this is the best fish he's ever had :D
I used your recipe for the most part. 1 can of beer, actually 12oz of home brewed pilsner beer, the mayo, and egg. dried the fish, dipped in the beer mixture and dipped it in a plate of Andy's fish coating. Put a small amount of olive oil in a cast iron skillet and fried the fish up. Damn good fish. Wife said it was the best she has even had, and I have to agree.
    Thanks!!!!

A little hint on those onions...slice the onions a tad on the thick side and DO NOT SEPERATE the rings. Mix half onions with the cut fries and the onions will seperate in the grease and they'll all brown together.

This all sounds great but what about the sweet tooth at the end? For desert, i take a can or two of canned biscuits and deep fry them in the oil. Make sure you get the hungy jack flacky kind at the store. Once the biscuits are light brown, take them out and place them on a paper towel but not with the fish or hush puppys. I them dribble Golden Eagle syrup on top of each biscuit. Best when thier still warm

I've never ate fish fillets that good in my life! A friend os mine by the name of CRACKER on our forum was cooking some fish at our place on the lake when we came in after a hard day of fishing at the foot! Plan was me and west tenn. clean i believe and Alen cook! He put the first batch of filletts in and i was watching him, he started loading up some onion rings in there also and i guess it was the taste of the onions in the oil that made the crappie fillets the best i've ever put in my mouth no doubt!! but still havent been brave enough to try that! from what ive learned everything/or item has its own cooking temp. I guess we will have to get him to cook them again by hammering a few more!! Thanks allen!:D
