Thread: Filleting Crappie Tips? Help?

I fillet thousands of fish every year. Not just Crappie , but Bass, Catfish,Bream, any most others. I hate electric fillet knives and use only the old style fillet knives like the guys in the videos.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, the more you clean the faster and neater your job will be done.

Just curious NIMROD, why do you hate electric fillet knives? Makes perfect sense if you're Amish or a Quaker or something like that. Do you not feel they do as good a job or do you just not like the "technology" part of it all?

I finally tried an electric fillet knife for the first time last weekend. We had well over 100 fish to clean & I thought it would be a great opportunity to try out the electric when there was enough to really see if I was going to like it or not. I do. I'd say that yes, I may leave a little more meat on the carcass than I do if I fillet them with a regular knife, but not much. And it is sooo much faster & better at getting the skin off. Only used it once but for now, I'm sold.

i'd have to agree with some of these guys, i am 39 yrs old and up til a year ago, i had used an old fillet knife since i was 16 . but we had a lot of fish to fillet one day and my friend pulled his electric one out and laughed at my old knife. after watching him fillet more than 3 to my 1, i got one and learned how to use it. now i love it and wouldnt go back
