    When I lived in Arab alabama they had an annual poke salad festival.

    It grows all over the place around here. I remember my grandma cooking it years ago, I think she mixed it with collards or turnip greens? Mainly, I just remember it stinking to high heaven while she cooked it!

    lol havent heard of poke salad in ages... good stuff now i need to go back down south and get me some chitterlings too

    Well I guess I'll jump in.The only polk I ever ate was the small stem's rolled in cornmeal and fried.I never heard of eating the leaf but I'll try most anything once.I tried John's civiche and hated it but I did try it once.Now about the pig gut's,that I have never tried and probally wont without a little encoragement from MR Bud Weiser.He seem's to make me do all kind's of stupid stuff.
