My wife is half Italian as well. Been eating her pasta creations for over 45 years now. Never had any with deer in it but I'd eat that for sure although she probably wouldn't make it for me. She won't eat the fish I catch either.

the key to that is never tell what the meat is , just saying , you would be surprised the amount of people I fed ground venison to over the years that DO NOT eat deer meat .....
