Default Best beer for beer batter ?

I'm not a beer drinker, so is there a prefered type or brand of beer to use when making beer batter ? Does it even matter ?

Since you are not a beer drinker just use cold club soda and a few drops of orange food coloring for color.

My suggestion is to only use beer that you have not already consumed. While the resulting "processed" beer is now warm, it makes the beer batter taste odd.
