• Spawn this late normal???

So I have been fishing for crappie a lot more lately...

I would have figured the crappie were done spawning a while ago.

But after the last two trips out and going to get more minnows from my local tackle shop apparently there are lots of really big crappies being caught shallow and full of roe.

Is this normal for the crappies to be spawning this late in the season?

Here are the pictures from yesterday’s outing with the fish I caught right before the sun went down.

Thanks guys... these are average sized crappie for my little pond...

The largest of the three was just over 13.5 inches...

I have some monsters in here we have caught them up to 16 inches and I have seen a few over that.

Great Pics, yeah spawn seems late this year, variable weather, cold temps, it all has an effect. I got out on Monday the 31st and got my first crappie of the season. It was good to get a few under my belt.
