Woodruff with Charlie

A man told me in my twenties that if I finished this life with enough friends to fill one hand I would be a lucky man. Charlie is one of those few. I can go on for a while about his attributes but will suffice to say that I would give him a key to my house with no second thoughts. Y'all get my drift so I'll move on. Charlie is a chunk the anchor and fish kinda guy and I wanted to show him a good time yesterday with a little trolling and whatever else time permitted. We started a little late and had no trouble finding the crowds and Charlie catching the first fish, the Skunk has left the boat. The weeds were as tough as I remembered them to be and the wind started to arrive so we went upwind to begin a drift as some of the others had started to do. A jig and float worked best for us and we put a few fish in the box with brighter colored BGBS. About 10:30 the wind picked up and we picked up our good fish on one of those drifts, casting to clear spots near the dollar bonnets. The next drift had the wind increased a bit and the rollers were starting to catch my eye, and the trip back upwind was just too rough for the 16' aluminum we were in and we headed for the river and Tedders. Not a bucketful of anything but a good time with a good friend that will bring smiles when I head back home. Here's a couple of pics of charlie with the first fish and the 2 best of show. Thanks for the help on where to go from those who provided it. Might have ducked the wind better in the river at monroe but this worked fine. Total was 6 for the few hours we had.
