• Finally got out again

It's been some kind of winter around these parts but we finally made it back out on to the hardwater for some perch and crappie. Well, we thought it was going to be hardwater but ol' Mother Nature had turned much of the pond into a huge slush trap. And I say trap as it seemed every 3rd or 4th step you'd break through the top layer of snow and ice into the void below. Incredibly difficult conditions to get around on.
Regardless, we found fish in the basin and the flats leading in to the deepest water. I did a lot of hole hopping while 870 and another friend did a fine job of staying planted at their holes, waiting for the fish to make another loop around. I did manage 2 fish from one hole late in our trip, a pair of 11's, give or take.

I think I ended up with the lowest count in the bucket, total of 8. 5 crappie, 3 decent yellow perch. I think everybody else did better by staying at a given hole and waiting them out.
Very nice day to be out after them, got up to 38 degrees, no wind, cloudy skies. Would have been a real winner if the ice had been better but oh, well. At least we were able to get back after them.
