• New dock paid off again!

It's always great when a private dock you have permission to fish on turns out to be great under certain conditions and you can drive right to it. Went back and it happened again KABOOM first drop bigun, second same third again! Love the Kaboom and had bucket full in 45 minutes. Used same jig, yellow body black head and white tail, I caught them one yesterday with mostly a minnow trailer, some had nibbles.

I had stopped at a neighbors house before I went to meet a son I didn't know and promise him my ketch. He was really surprised when I came back in short time with bucket full of really nice ones from 9.5 to 12+. Handed him 21 and had another son there whose daughters LOVE them some crappie so they had big smiles when they looked into bucket. Always great when you can make folks happy and don't have to clean the fish myself! So it's a twofer.

This is a couple days later and told a buddy of mine to hit those docks when he went there with his boat but he called and said didn't ketch anything there. Asked if it was cloudy and yes it was as these fish are in the shade of dock that made perfect sense. Don't go there unless the sun is out. Good to know.

Wish I had a private dock to fish at. Sounds amazing and very enjoyable.

it's like anything in fishing, every dock or brush pile has a formulae that you need to figure out. Came back the next weekend and took my time getting there as it was cloudy and after I arrived cleared up so I could go and do it again, even better.

Typical of when I fish docks it's basically vertical dipping with movement. Drop it and then pull it back to me then out to other side or even drop and move to be slow trolling. Then when slows will dip and hold it still to see if other fish in area like that presentation. then do more of whatever is working.

Now you make me want to fix up the dock and shore area at my cousin's lake house at The Rez to better attract crappie; fishing from both the dock and my boat, I have found only small catfish.

What always cracks me up is when I am fishing off a dock that's supposed to be for Boat launching and dudes with their fancy expensive rigs go by me on way out or when they come back stop and look at my bucket and are amazed I am ketchn more and bigger than they did on their trip. So definitely Lay some brush around dock but also hit those shady areas and find out when they are prone to bite. often on docks I fish sometimes don't get any or just a couple but since so close go to my cabin take a nap or eat lunch and then come back couple hours later and a covey moves in or simply decides to eat and it's KABOOM time.

so try it in multiple times or conditions especially if suns bright and overhead and getrdone. Also side dock shoot into openings as often they are thick in there and very productive.
