Based on my findings from yesterday, I headed right to the deeper waters, picking up the basin contours where they extend in to the bay I launch from. Took about 15 minutes for the 1st bluegill to put a bend in my rod and from that point on, I had steady but not fast action. Like yesterday, my catch would be crappie, perch and bluegills. My best action came from the deep basin areas, 22' and deeper. Here are some samples of my catch today with most of them ending up on ice. I kept 3 different Roadrunners on for the entire trip.
Boat control was difficult, particularly after the wind really freshened around 10am and switched around from the SW to the SE ahead of the front that's coming through tonight. Went from "not too bad" to "holy cow" pretty quickly. I kept at it until the bite dropped off around 10:30 or so and pointed the bow toward the landing and hit shore at 11am.
Had 27 on the clicker and 21 came home with me. That 13 incher would be released to carry on the gene pool and a few throw back bluegills and perch that didn't quite measure up.
9 perch, 7 'gills, 5 crappies came home with me and are now resting quietly in the 'fridge. A cooler full of good eating, that's for sure.
