Air and water temp both at 71 when I launched, had lines in the water at 4:35 and 2 fish in the boat within 2 minutes, a small bass and this average perch. I'd only catch one more perch after this, just about the same size.
The wind would cause problems for the first hour but then it would ease off and become less of a concern though I never got anything like calm conditions. But it seemed to work to my advantage as I'd have 21 on the clicker as the first hour rolled by. I'd land some of our target species tonight, although the bluegill took top spot on the fish landed list.
Lots of good 'gill action tonight with most of them coming from schools suspended over the deeper water areas. This one got off the hook and I chased him halfway round the boat before I could corral him and snap a picture, hence all the sand and stuff on him. He got even with me by sticking me with every spine he had, I think; I was gently leaking blood from lots of holes in my right hand.
I'd get a bunch of them tonight, all between 7 1/2 and 9". Next time I'll have a cooler to bring home enough for a feed or 3.
43 taps on the clicker later, I'd call it a night at 7:10.
2 perch, 1 bass, 9 crappie and the rest bluegills. Kept a smile on all night.
Heck of a nice sunset tonight, pics don't do it justice.
Sure was nice to get back out on the water. Hopefully my next trip won't be too far off.
