Launched just short of 5pm and had the first pumpkinseed in the boat 5 minutes later, the first of many, most this size and larger. I'd get a bunch of these tonight, along with a couple of nice bluegills. Almost wish I'd brought a cooler to keep some but everybody went back in for another trip.
They were just hammering the Roadrunner with a blue/black/chartreuse triple tail grub. That lure would account for probably 90% of my total catch tonight. It also got me started counting crappie with this nice one.
Of the 24 I'd catch tonight, only 4 would be crappie. Here is tonight's hot lure with a spunky 10"er.
Next one was pretty much a twin to the one above.
A few perch would also slime the boat, surprisingly hard fighting tonight.
Last hookup of the night was a double, crappie and a bass. 13" crappie, 15" bass; both put up a heck of fight and tangled my lines something fierce.
Had a bit of color at sunset as a nice end to my trip. I called it a night at 7:30 as I was a long way from the launch and the light is fading quickly these days.
