The fish that we saw on the graph when we initially scanned the area appeared to be 30-35 feet deep. None were on the shallow flat adjunct to the main river channel. The wind as calm and current was gentle.
After the fish did not appear on the flat at the drop off, we turned ou attention to the deep and suspended fish. The boat was sitting in 34 feet of water and on my first cast into the deep, I was counting the lure down and when I reached the 30 second mark, a nice crappie inhaled the jig and was first to come aboard. We fished with 3/32 oz jigs and Bobby Garland slab slayers
I told Gary the count and then we both proceeded to catch fish off and on for the next couple of hours. We decided to release fish that were under 11”. We took home one limit of nice slabs and bonus fish were Blue catfish. We both landed one in the 6-7 pound range and I had another pull off after a short fight. I had my usual Drum come by to say hello. I am the Drumking.
One crappie had a Monkey Milk baby Shad in its stomach when I cleaned it. 1/32 oz jig.
