I utilized the south wind to run along the rocks at Spillway Road. I initially started running crankbaits and caught a few, and then I tried to slow troll through several schools. Those fish wouldn’t bite, so I went back to pulling crankbaits close to the bank—the range was between 6-12’ with the majority of them ~8’ deep. Most others on boats weren’t having any luck, and I swear that I saw more bank fishers catching more in the shallows than the boat fishers (other than me)—ended up with 9.

One guy didn’t believe it was possible to catch crappie on crankbaits despite watching videos of people doing it.

Sometimes you just have to cover some water. Those rocks produce just not everywhere. Nice fish.

I also find that I tend to adjust my setup more quickly when I cover a lot of water that quickly than when I try to sit over an area of stubborn fish.
