• Varivas AREA Super Trout INFINITY PE x8 Braid TEST Report

I'm using the 7.5# test Infinity PE for casting. The 5.6# will cast a 1/32oz jig farther than and line you will ever find with that pound / test rating but it is a little lite for my use also. This is a casting line not vertical jigging. The PowerPro Super 8 Slick V2 line is what I use for vertical jigging. I purchased my Varivas line directly from the manufacturer. They have a website for retail sales. A Surgeon's Knot is to be used to attach a leader of monofilament to the end of the Infinity PE line. I have found 6# test works just fine with the 7.5# Infinity PE Braid for a leader. Some form of leader should be used, when I was tying directly to the hook a broke off several fish setting the hook. The Double Uni Knot was the only one that worked for me and that was only sometimes. Let me know if I clarified your question, thanks.

To update this post, since buying dedicated Dock Shooting rods the Super Trout Advance in 8 pound test has risen to the top where shooting high structure areas. It will comfortable shoot a 1/32oz jig to the back wall of the docks and is strong enough to turn unsuspecting bycatch species like White Bass / Striper types as well as big Catfish. Frequent snagging when shooting that far back is a problem and it's 50/50 if the line breaks or the #4 Eagle Claw 570 hook straightens enough to pull free. The Infinity X8 PE in 7.5# test is still my hands down all around favorite but I will be bouncing Sparkle Beetles for Mule Speckled Trout using the Super Trout Advance in 8# test. The fine diameter along with extremely low memory makes this line the perfect choice for high volume tide days fish deep holes in Winter for the big Girls.

I use lots of Varivas lines and couldn’t be more pleased. Good write up. One of my big ones was a 5lb 10oz Tilapia on Varivas PE that was just over 4lbtest. Worth the price, hands down!

I'm bring this thread back as it is time for me to expand on my Varivas Fishing Line use. Y'all can count on Varivas Braid shooting & casting further than expected. Still totally surprises me the performance the PE x8 Infinity delivers. My first report still stands........Hopefully Varivas will post a line sale here ASAP for us. Varivas = KABOOM!

I got a new dock shooting rod and an ultra lite for casting. You still recommend the Nylon super trout advance in 8lb? Think i will go with the infinity you recommend in 5.6lb for my ultra lite.

It took me a bit to find this post to reply. The latest site address for this line is

Area Super Trout INFINITY PE X8 – VARIVAS

I see the rating has changed by one point to 5.5# & 7.5#. If you shoot the 7.5# Infinity PE X8 you won't go back to the nylon 8#. The Infinity shoots effortlessly 2 times as far. A example I was trying to shoot a Curlytail under the Hwy 43 bridge up current to retrieve along the pilings (bridge is 2 lanes). I really didn't load the rod, using a 1/16th jighead, there is 2ft of freeboard between water and concrete overhead. Not kneeling down I drew back and shot the first shot all the way under the bridge to about even with the outside edge with the 7.5# Infinity. Surprised, I bared down on the second shot and launched the curlytail well out past the other side of the bridge allowing me to let the jig sink for the return starting well outside the first concrete pillar. The Infinity needs a mono leader tied to it before the jighead as the Infinity seems to break at the knot for me a lot when I set the hook. If you run a short leader (3ft or so) tying on jigs goes much faster too. I love the 8# Super Trout Advance as a serious Workhorse. I reach for it 90% of the time as I'm shooting here where there are barnacles and Spanish muscle clusters. When I know it's a clean dock I reach for the Infinity. Buy the 7.5# unless you're Bream fishing with smaller than 1/32oz baits. The 5.5# will cast 1/32oz a mile. I hope this helps in you're decision making.
