• Kaboom Today! Played Hooky from Work

Well, woke up to Crows trying to eat my pecans out of the trees. After I ran them off I picked a gallon of pecans out of the trees, set up the Scarecrow, and went Crappie fishing.

As I suspected the design dockshooting rods worked fantastic. I ran Varivas Super Trout Sight Edition in 5# test on one and Varivas Infinity PE 7.5# test Braid on another. Shout out to Alphahawk, the Surgeon's Knot fixed my problem. I tied 2ft of 5# Super Trout as a leader and as they say "The Rest is History"!

For Casting & Shooting I prefer the 5# Varivas Super Trout Sight Edition line over the 4# test. The little bit heavier line drove the hooks home and the only break off was on a tree trunk. Same for the 7.5# Varivas Infinity PE X8. Sign me up for More! My mistake was trying to fish the Infinity tied directly to the hook. Jourdan River is going to take a second hit from the increased salinity as Speckled Trout are in small schools with the Crappie. Could not keep the little beggars off my hooks. We need rain. Southern Pro's Hot Grub in Albino Shad Delivered it Home for me again.

I vertical jig fished one of my custom blue jigheads with a Jason's Jigs Crappie Shad in Monkey Milk. Jason's uses a firmer plasticizer so they last. The Crappie & Specked Trout loved them.

Awesome job. The crows have destroyed the pecans at my mom’s. I’ve picked them up several times but most have been ruined by crows. Probably seen close to 30 one day.

Great report. Nothing like playing a little hooky once in a while.

Will be setting Austin and my dock shooters Tuesday after we give him his birthday present tomarrow night on his birthday.
Now that I’ve got the basics and the correct pole and line it’s just a matter of practicing.

Thanks for the dock shooting lesson and purchasing tips.

      Bon Temps!!
