• A Numbers Day

Wife and I fished Lake Poinsett yesterday. The bluegill and shell cracker were not active. Or I couldn’t locate them whatever the case may be. I caught one decent shell cracker and a number of juvenile. The wife did catch a tank of a bluegill. It was hot. While temps were in high 80’s there was not so much as a slight breeze. Thinking I was going to head home after what I thought would be a bad day, I went crappie hunting. The lake is flat full of them and they have only been there 3 years. I found a massive school and proceeded to catch a 10-11 inch crappie on every single cast. I had the perfect setup to give me maximum fun. The Diplomat Extreme 62 UL, with a Daiwa Ballistic FW tuned 1000 spooled with Varivas ES2 Lemoni in 1.75# test. More often than not the crappie were hitting it on the fall. After around 100 fish we pulled out and headed to get dinner. The wife was in on this action also using a Palms Egeria XUL rod. But she is not quite proficient enough yet to use the Ester lines. So I had her spooled up with Varivas Twitch Master in 3# test. Both of us had an absolute ball. Crappie cannot yet be harvested from the lake. I’m hoping AGFC keeps it that way for at least 2 more years.

    Regards

There's going to be some monsters in there in 2 more years.
