• Quick afternoon trip

    Well, the boat has been sitting up too long, so I figured I would take it out for a quick afternoon trip after the LSU game. Didn't want to go too far because I haven't run it in a while. Went close by the house and wasn't expecting much and it started that way with a couple of hard head catfish in the deeper water. Decided to try the shallow water, maybe 1 foot deep. Well this old red just happened to be swimming by and BAM, it was on! Good fight and got it to the net. Ended the 2-hour trip with a nice red and 4 crabs for the wife. Not a lot but it was a fun trip, even brought my favorite fishing partner with me! (And my wife doesn't get mad when I call this girl SUGAR!) LOL

      My favorite way to prepare those reds is on the half shell

      Butter garlic Worcestershire sauce marinade and then scale side down on a hot grill.

      I thought about that, but this one was a tad bigger than I like for them on the half shell. But yes, that is my favorite way to eat them too! I just filleted this one and will fry it up or make redfish balls with it.
