• Varivas AREA Super Trout INFINITY PE x8 Braid TEST Report

I was searching for a Next Level Performance Braid fishing line for casting 1/32 jigs. With todays solar heated waters a slower sinking jig looks more attractive, sinks slower for more time in the strike zone (great for fishing shallower water), also is easier for fish to inhale to the back of the mouth too. The need to keep a jig in new water is necessary to cover enough water for optimizing the opportunity for a bite.

Enter Varivas' Super Trout INFINITY PE x8 Braid. I have NEVER owned a spinning setup that would cast a 1/32oz jig far enough to be useful. Not than I didn't buy performance lines before the NANO line in 4# test cast the best on the very same spinning combo I put the INFINITY PE x8 in 5.6# test.

The spinning setup with the 5.6# INFINITY PE x8 casted a 1/32oz jig as far as the 4# NANO line does with a 1/16oz jig. The INFINITY PE x8 casts the same distance on the same spinning combo with HALF THE WEIGHT!

I used a standard Palomar Knot, backed my reel with monofilament, made sure the spool was clean as well as the rod blank and guides. The rod used in the test is a promotional grade rod (cheap guides) so if anything very much a disadvantage to the Varivas INFINITY PE x8 braid. Sine there is virtually no memory to the line it easily flew thru the rod guides.

Sensitivity was fantastic as expected. Really didn't need to set the hook as I was using XXFine #4 wire hooks, smaller diameter wire the easier to penetrate the fishes' mouth.

For myself who pushes the performance envelop on everything I do find myself scratching my head as to why I didn't try this fishing line sooner. Just like Livescope has given a fishing advantage to anglers never seen before I think Varivas' PE line is that big of upgrade to your fishing game. It is so easy to cast that my accuracy casting improved dramatically because I didn't have to try and apply extra loading to the rod blank for increased distance. Having a line test weight 5.6 pounds for the line diameter of .0029in is no less than phenomenal. I won't be able to go back to the previous lines I used before, my eyes have been opened. Varivas INFINITY PE x8 braid is absolutely the finest fishing line I have ever used. If you want distance with your casts, if you want sensitivity, you want Varivas Braids.

Super good report. I've tried several braided lines over the years and just never cared for them. I have never tried top quality Varivas line though. Might have to get a spool to try on my casting setup. Good report, thanks for sharing.

I’ve also been on the Varivas train for a couple of years now and like you also, there’s no going back. Everything about it just works better. A shallow spool like the JDM reels offer eliminates the use of backing and cuts down on extra weight a little bit. The jigs you’ll find on most of my rods are all less than 1/32 and you’ve all seen my success on the panfish forum. Good post Rojo, thanks for taking the time to write it all down.
