• Off Shore Tackle planer boards & crankbait tuner

I’ve read I lot about planer boards and thought it has to be hard or too complex to run them. I researched quite a few different brands and makes of planer boards but decided Off Shore’s boards looked like the best, compact, float and reversible. I asked Ed about them and he graciously sent me one and the Off Shore EZ Crankbait tuner OR40 Ed you’re the best!

The crankbait tuner was such an unknown blessing as we had a couple crankbait not running straight. It isn’t like we have hung them in the slate rock or brush pile that might have bent them lol! It was really simple to use and the lanyard was a nice touch as we were fine tuning them. The reason I think it’s required if you pull crankbaits is that plies can scratch the bill etc when with this tuner you can really dial in the tension.

So I bought 4 more Off Shore Crappie mini planer board OR38 decided to give them a try. When I got them, the boards are made of really good quality and definitely show it! My papaw, dad, cousin and I was using 6 rods trolling with crankbaits with slab sauce and five of them had planer boards the last rod was right behind the boat. My family hasn’t done well on Douglas Lake, TN in years and wanted to try it, we couldn’t do any worse then they had been doing ha! It took a minute to figure out how I liked and wanted them but as soon as we got the hang of them they worked well!

It still takes getting used to seeing when a fish hits it but very happy with them. I love how they float, can switch sides, and come apart to fit nicely in my tackle box. I noticed less tangles with the planer boards even on Memorial Day weekend!!

I am gladly wrong that these planer boards are easy to work with. Planer boards are definitely something to consider and have in your fishing arsenal. Here some of the pictures of one of the few days we went last week. And the fish fry that I had saved up fish, fishing with Lee, Glenn and cowboy thanks guys!
