• Cold Winter Morning Crappie

Hope you fellas had a nice Christmas. Met up with a couple pals and did some fishing last week on a cold December morning. Air temp was 29 at sunrise. Had to keep dipping the rod tip into the water to melt the ice off the guides. Ended up catching around 12 keepers, which I sent home with them as I do not eat fish. Caught all of them in a Norma Jean color Crappie Magnet and a 1/16 jig head at around 10 feet deep. I caught one that is maybe my personal best at just over 14” and 1.7lbs. I’ve caught a few 14” crappie over the last year, but yet to land one that’s reached 15” so far. For me, a 13” or 14” crappie is plenty nice to catch and I was real thankful to land him.
