• Tale of two lakes

Started out on one big lake, moved along the bank probing brush and ended w 10 good ones in about 40 minutes. Then buddyfrom mark twain called who wanted to fish her lake between us so went to ramp to meet him and a neighbor. Now these r two confirmed minnow guys so let the games begin as I am a jigging dude.

We went to a spot known to us under bridge and we tried the piers to no avail so I turned and hit the shore. KABOOM started as they were close in and I was ketchnnone after another but not keepers. Then u picked up one then another while the minnow guys were not.

Then MAJOR KABOOM smacked my jig and thought it was a good bass b UT when b it got close saw it was a BIG SLAB. 14.5 incher. My friends abandoned minnows and wanted my jigs but still using bobbers while I was casting and tight line retrieves and still ketchn lots o almost fish.

Had them move to other side of bridge and let me hit rip rap andc startrt walking around hunting. I went one side stillnketchn but no keepers then went on other which was windy side and started ketchn nicer keepers. Got 5 on that side.

Friends came voter on boat ahead of me and Finally caught a couple keepers.

Sun was brutal so we went back under bridge and in shade. Caught bunch more fish but no size. So time to end it.

I ended up with limit and they had a few keepers. Jigs definitely won the day. I gave them most and kept 4 nice ones.

BTW went back to first lake in evening to finish limit and did. But couple there were struggling ketchn and were using minnows. Course I stepped on the dock and immediately caught a nice keeper and wife said u know I hate you. I Said i get that a lot but gave her the fish and proceeded to give them a nice bunch to eat. So I was her new buddy now.

Lot of folks have asked me how I find so many on different lakes without a boat or electronics. I move around a lot on banks or docks and try different depths and use road runners or straight curly tailed jigs to cover a lot of water in fan casts to find out where they are that day. On docks going to bottom and then bringing it up slowly vertical casting as one long timer on here has called it to find out where they are holding. or pendulum casts where it falls thru the water again searching for them. Plus noting how others around me are doing it and who is successful and going over and talking to them.
