Yesterday, my daughter, Daphne had to be at our house at 7 am to babysit my great grandkid, Thea, and I saw an opportunity to get away for two hours to fish before taking Wanda to therapy. I was texting with Candi and she said that she wanted to go with me even though it was only going to be a couple of hours or so.
We met at Wolftever ramp and fished about 30 minutes or so without a bite, so it was time for a move. Before surgery, I had been fishing for bass, Stripers, and catfish and not keeping up with the crappie, so when it slows down, I know where the fish go and we got on them quickly.
We landed 9 keeper crappie, 3 White bass, 1 big yellow bass, and several short crappie before I had to get off the water. I kept the 9 crappie and yellow bass for dinner and released all the rest.
Fish were deep and not aggressive. Picky bite mostly, but when we finally figured the technique to get them to commit, it was game on and fun for just a few short minutes. We caught our fish on Bobby Garland slab slayers and minnow Mind’Rs. One color was best but we caught on a couple more colors as well. Just make sure that the plastic has some chartreuse on it somewhere. Lol.
One screen shot to show you what kind of structure that I look for in 5he summer time. In the winter time too. In the fall as well. When it is spawning season, I fish tailwaters for Stripers and walleye and white bass.
