The lock and dam that backs this lake up is the one with not only the greatest lift on the waterway but also one of the highest lifts in the world.....around 85 ft. This backs water up to form a 7000 acre lake.

The area we fished today is called Five Fingers because it has 5 real long coves....some as long as a mile. Each one of these coves has lots and lots of smaller coves off of them. Its really nice because it gets you off of the main lake body and also out of the wind.
We marked lots and lots of fish but they just were not biting and I could see why.......tons and tons of shad. They have so much shad to eat this year that they just are not hungry. I talked to one guy that has fished this lake for 25 years and he said that he has never seen the shad this thick.....must have been a bumper year for them.
We caught 3 bass on our crappie jigs and crappie nibbles....no crappie. Had lots of thumps that I feel sure were crappie but we were geezer slow on the hook set and missed them. We single poled today. Lost a bunch of jigs but I always heard if you did not lose jigs then you were not fishing where the fish are. Donated one C.C hat to the lake Gods while making a high speed run down the lake.
