• Last crappie this year

My good friend Gary Fomby and I decided to crappie fish this morning instead of fighting the crowd below WB dam. It proved to be a tough morning for fishing for us although we did catch a bunch of fish.

We had 13 keepers for Gary to take home and clean, but for every keeper that we had, we caught 4 or 5 short crappie and the size of our keepers ran from 10 to about 11.5 for the biggest one. We just never could find any really big crappie today, but hat is okay too.

The technique that we had to resort to was nearly dead sticking a Bobby Garland Monkey Milk baby Shad, but when we finally figured out the how to catch them, the fish were eager. The hardest thing was the fish were 20-25 feet deep. Grin. Long wait for a 1/16 oz jig to reach the bottom.

The northeast wind wasn’t too strong, but was chilly. TVA pushing water through Chickamauga dam at a 72,500 cubic feet per second rate.

Most likely this is my final crappie report for 2019, but I may make another WB Walleye/Striper run before the end of the year.
