I got up early the next morning and headed out on the three hour drive to meet him at the Collinsville Landing area. We got on the water about 9;00am.....it was a little cold and was windy. We started slow trolling jigs tipped with crappie nibbles running our baits about 6 to 8 ft. deep in 12 FOW. We started catching fish right from the start.
After about a hour or so the wind layed and the sun came out and warmed things up a bit. I think it finally got up to almost 60 degrees and the water temp was about 53 degrees. We continued slow trolling our jigs. We were spider rigging with four poles each and a single jig rig on each pole. We followed a old creek run and found some more crappie, blacks and whites.
The favorite color for the day was pink and white and electric chicken. We tipped our hooks with pink crappie nibbles. While the bite was not fast and furious, we still caught some nice fish. We pulled out after about 4 hours with 24 nice ones and had a great winter day on the water.
Always have a good time fishing with Scott and Okatibbee is a great crappie lake. There are nice facilities there and nice camp grounds. To reserve a campsite or for more information......call 1-877-444-6777
