• Chickamauga Lake crappie

Schools out for summer and I had the day off work. Can't think of a better way to spend the day than with my six year old daughter chasing crappie on Chickamauga. We got a late start and I had to wake the sleepy head up after 9. It was the first time I have taken her with me and I wasn't sure how she was going to handle the heat; especially if we didn't put any fish in the boat. She was a trooper and a few crappie on her hook added to the excitement of the day. We fished some offshore brush in 25 fow and caught some keeper crappie and she had a blast reeling in a few stripe. We escaped some increasing wind and boat traffic to find another pile in 12 fow with some more crappie that wanted to come home with us. Water temp was approaching 80 deg through the day. After every catch she would ask if we had enough for a fish fry and the pressure was on. I had never fished these spots before. I am happy to report we had a fabulous fish fry and I couldn't be more proud and excited about the interest she showed today.
