After Billbob falling and hurting his rotator cuff, and me getting a root canal, it was time for a break. So Billbob and I took a road trip to Illinois Crappie Camp.
We set up camp in Hanr3's spot and waited for him to arrive.
My old boat pulled into the drive. Hanr3 did an outstanding job restoring it.
And then it was off to the Friday night gathering at Steve's camper with Steve slaving away at the grill. The brats and burgers were great Steve.
And then we sat around chewing the fat.
Gobob took Billbob for a ride on his Crappie Mobile.
As the event continued into the evening the air got chilly, and Billbob had to slap on a few more layers.
The campfire became the popular spot to warm up. The prior day here it was 84 degrees and now this. Go figure.
The next morning we Timbo made us up a great breakfast with farm fresh brown eggs which which came straight Billbob's "Green acres"!
Then we stickered up Tims boat just to make sure everyone knew who used to own it! lol
And while Timbo went off fishing Billbob and I caught up a little on our sleep.
Saturday night;s event started off with the traditional "giving away of the Crappie.com goodies" for those that replied in the thread I started. Wilbur's hat was given away to the highest bidder (a cold Leinenkugle!).
And then it was on!
Good food and good drink.
Gubers putting on the feed bag.
Desert time with Hanr3's famous cobbler. Slab's Surprise and Cherry Chocolate, mmmgood.
And then a Lews Wally Marshall Signature Serious rod was given away to the member which drove the farthest. There was a sort of "friendly" discussion between whether dad or son would be the actually winner as they drove down together, but we were sure they would work it out somehow on the their way home. lol
And the evening ended as the previous evening did sitting around the campfire again chewing the fat. It was a great event. The rain scared some folks away but when all was said and done, we never got rained on during any festivities. I was so happy to have made it there, and sorry for those that did not. There's always next year, see you then hopefully.
