It has been a long time since I have been fishing. My sister passed away 2 weeks before Christmas, and for all of January and up until last week I had upper respiratory problems but am good to go now.....I hope. I went to a trout river today. Everyone else was fishing for trout and I was after crappie......they all thought I was nuts. Loaded the boat with 30 crappie 11-13 inches. All fish caught on a ThunderHawk Dancer either in Midnight Blue or Pearl/Purple with a Micro fry 1/8 ounce jig head using my Major Craft FineTail Banshee Area Trout Rod 6' 7" with SOS 2# test line and 2# test fluro leader. Visibility was 8 feet....really clear water. The fish came out of 21-25 feet of water on the bottom.....if you were not tapping rocks on the retrieve you were not catching fish. Water temp was 49 degrees....an absolute beautiful day. Going to try for Spotted bass tomorrow....life is good.
My condolences. Glad you are doing better. Nothing like a day of fishing and a great day of catching is even better. I'm guessing you'll see the naysayers crappie fishing next time. LOL!
GET EM!!!!! What kind of boat is that AWESOME???????
Thanks......the boat is an Xtreme 1454 out of Bonifay, Florida. I really like it.....if there is something on it that I don't like it is my fault. It was built just like I told them. I went the custom route as I could not find a boat short enough to fit in my garage...yet still have a lot of width. It is 14.5 feet long with a removable tongue. The funny thing is shortly after buying the boat I moved to a new house....could have got 2 more feet of boat in the new garage...LOL. I fish by myself most of the time and it works out great. I have had it for almost two years and this trip was the first time I had really used the live well....don't keep too many fish. I was worried it would not be big enough...but 30 crappie fit into it fine. There are times when I feel like I need a bigger boat....like when the wind gets bad......but then when I have to move it by hand in the garage I think it is just the right size. A lot of my friends refer to it as the old mans boat....which is fine buy me. I am not up on any decks and I drive and fish out of same seat.
