Hello all! I have always done a lot of reading here on the forums and figured it was time to start doing some posting myself! Really appreciate all I have learned on this site. I have been a life long hunter and it wasn't until just a few years ago when my hunting buddy started taking me fishing that I realized I have been missing out on something very special for a long time! I bought my first boat last year and I have been hooked ever since!!! Been doing some fishing at Gun Lake, Fish Lake, Payne, and Houghton lately, here are a few photos. My Wife doesn't do any hunting with me, but she sure does love to fish and she can slab up too! We always roll together and I love it! She caught the pike just trolling a small jig with a twister tail on a ultra light! We didn't do as well on the walleyes on Houghton as I hoped for (only my 2nd time ever fishing the lake for them) but the crappie were hammering the crank baits and they were some slabs too! The one was 14.5 inches.
What is that old saying? A family that fishes together stays together. Well maybe that's not it but it sounds good to me. Those nice thick fish will make for some good filets.
I have enjoyed time in the woods too, but I always come back to fishing, and the people I share it with. 20 years from now you and the kids will be saying "remember when we went to that lake........." . The paybacks are large. Thanks for the post, look forward to hearing more in the future.
