I thought I'd share a couple pictures from the 2015 Geezer Rodeo at Okatibbee, Mississippi. All had a great time. Attendance at these rodeo's vary but in general they are much smaller than Crappie Camps. They are held during the week, when most others have to work. The smaller group allows for some good one on one time. But if you spend any time at all talking to Cray, make sure you bring your "bleeper" cause you're gonna need it. Cray is a great guy and dang does he have the stories to tell! I love listening to them.
Boy this group looks like trouble, don't they?
Abbey is ready to clean up any scraps that happen to fall on the ground, or the table for that matter.
And yes, we did get some fishing in. It was supposed to rain all week, and it did rain, but most of the rain stayed away when it needed to. The fishing on Okatibbee is certainly fun. We did not catch monster Crappie, but we sure caught a lot of them. And it did not matter much that most were throw backs, we were having fun.
I'm actually standing in the water in this shot. Anything for a good picture, right! But the reason for this is, on this trip I had Ringo with, and distant thunder was scaring him. "G" dropped me off near shore (too shallow to get real close) so I could wade in and check on the goof ball dog.
My car became the dog kennel. It seems that the only place Ringo was comfortable was in my car. In Billbobs camper he would just pace and look for a place to scratch so I could not leave him there. I would throw a couple jackets on the floor of my car and the goofy dog would bury himself there. Abbey did not care one way or the other, she's a great travel companion.
"G" was the first member to hit 50,000 posts on Crappie.com. I presented a trophy and a brand new Helix for his accomplishment. Thank you so much for all your hard work "G". The site would not be the same without you. I may run the website, but you are the true heart and soul of Crappie.com. You keep me on the "straight and narrow" path even when I sometimes stray.
Ringo being Ringo, burying his head in the sand!
Cray not being Cray. His mouth is closed! lol - just kidding buddy, love hearing your stories.
"G", Shineehineekid and Windstone bought some smoked ribs, Scotty put together the sides (thanks guys). Scotty was an awesome host cooking up a storm pretty much every day. Thank you so much Scotty for setting up another wonderful event. Since I'm turning 55 this year I was honored to be able to attend the 2015 Geezer Rodeo. It may be my first rodeo, but it will certainly not be my last.
Hmm, something wrong with this picture! lol
Scott V with some real nice Okatibbee slabs. Being his home lake he was able to hone in on some nice big'un's. I had a nice big'un like this on the hook but he broke off bringing him into the boat. Believe me, it's true! In fact, I had a bunch like this on the hook and they all came off somehow! I got to get new hooks! lol
