• The Amazeing Thump/Conway

There are many great ways to catch crappie but for me the most personal way is vertical jigging.

As I launched my boat for an evening of fishing I thought where could they be. The answer for me was no where in particular and it become a thing called Power Fishing cover as much cover as I could in the allotted time of fishing. When favorite holes are not producing I often go on a Power Fishing trip across Lake Conway it has paid off many times before and today was no different.

I don't know how many trees I fished today but I know it was allot. And just every now and then I felt the best feeling a vertical Jigger can ask for...A ThRHUMP.

You always know a Good Fish within just a few seconds of hooking him. From the time of the strike until you get him in the net, for me it is the most personal way to catch a beautiful slab. Just one man, just one pole, just one bait on the water with a pole raised high...bent over, the splash of a slab as it hits the surface. A Norman Rockwell moment. Tight Lines...

I wish my crappie would THRUMP. In the last month I have had one thump. The rest were very hard to detect. A minute amount of resistance, a little slack n the drop. the line popping up just enough to see it. Maybe I am jigging wrong but I can't seem to make them thump it.I age 100% jigging is the most personnel way to catch crappie.
      Nice post.

Try shallowing up a little most thumps occur when you are presenting your jig just above their line of sight. Minute amount of resistance strikes or slack in the line drop are indicators that your fishing just a little too deep. Also fish can and will hit differently depending on the lake, water clarity and general mood of the fish. Thanks for the comment.
