There is nothing like hand grabbing as us missippi boys call it. The most exciting way to catch big catfish as far as I am concerned. We usually start the end of may or the first of june depending on the water level and temp in the river. We fish about an hour and half south of memphis. To date the biggest fish we have caught is a 92 lb flathead and a 75 lb blue cat and a 40 lb white river. We average anywhere from 12 to 18 fish a trip. Usually the fish average around 30-35 pounds. I love it. Hey, mudbug you get down this way five me a holler and we can get together and catch a big ole cat.

all my fish were released for another day, this was the first time i had ever done it and was pretty cool indeed, HOWEVER once i found out that these people KNOW where the fish are all the time it took some of the excitment away.....any of these "movies" you see are planned and they know where the fish are because the "holes" are planted there with barrells and wooden boxes sunk in the bank so that the fish stay in there......they can go catch the same fish day after day

We release 90%+ of our fish.

I can tell you with absolute certainty... you are not going to catch the same fish out of the same hole day after day. Another fish may move in to take it's place but the odds of the same fish being in the same hole is pretty much slim to none.

Of course the people that do this know where the holes are. How long do you think it would have taken you to find a single hole if they didn't know where they were? Not a single one of our holes was placed there by us. Every one of them are natural spawning holes. Yes, we had to find them. It took a few years to find all of the holes that we know of now and we find more every year. However, if we had the time, money and inclination to make our own boxes... we would be doing that as well.
