Go to YouTube and look under jug fishing. There's a guy has a video on how to make them with PVC, noodles and rebar as a sliding weight. If I jug fished that's the way I'd build some.

How deep do you put out your jugs this time of year? It the heat of the summer do you fish the same as now or do you go deeper?

If you are using noodles put a length of garden hose or pvc pipe thru the noodle or you will loose a big fish. We lost a huge catfish once due to not renforcing the foam noodle in some way.

I have caught a lot of big fish with juggs and mine aren't reenforced. What I have learned is to be on top of them, once you see them starting to bob get to it and get the fish out. NEVER pull the fish out by the jugg but by the line. My thoughts

Well we have had fish rip the string thru the noodle. Each time I was about jerked out of the boat. Down here we have 100#+ alligator gar and alligators to deal with.

Another vote for swim noodles. If you can get some kind of weights to plug the ends of the holes it helps when throwing them and that added weight cuts down drastically on the drift when a breeze comes up at night. Here in my hometowm we quarry and finish granite into tombstones and the cores from small granite vases are an exact fit to slip inside the holes. I use plugs about 3" long on both ends. Also, I tie my line near one end of the noodle (over the rock plug) with a slip knot. The harder the fish pulls the tighter the know gets.Thumbs Up By tying to one end the noodle stands up when a fish is on it.

I also use swim noodles but on mine i use a wire coat hanger run through it as that is alot cheaper than pvc. my tip for you is to keep an eye out when your driving or boating for a smashed road barrel. drive any distance and youll see at least one that nobody is coming back for and they are all the time getting washed into creeks. take it home and cut the reflective tape off with a razor (it may be a challenge depending on how smashed up the barrel is) and wrap it around the end of the noodle so you can easily find them with a spotlight

I put a zip tie around the noodles and tie the line to the zip tie.

They won't rip it out if you don't hang on. Let them pull the noodle out of your hand till they are worn down. You'll land more not try'n to land them green and full of fight. Let the noodle wear them down first.
