the water temps are in the high 40's right now, on the lower missouri. and the fish are still bunched up in their winter haunts, in huge numbers! you first have to find the right place to fish, but once you find em, they are all right there. no baiting required. the guys I know who do chum holes dont drop a chumsack until around may or june, just before the spawn. this keeps them on good fishing throughout the spawn. they abandon abandon baiting all together once the fish are in a late summer pattern, except for during high water times.
