That's how I had it first off all but trolling battery don't last all day. Was wanting to hook it up so it will have more amps. Can't remember what it's called but you hook both 12 volt batteries together I guess in series and it still has 12 volts to the trolling motor. Two batterys connected in Parallel gives 12 volts....Two batterys connected in series will give you 24 volts.
