    You might want to try a 2# braid, it will have much more strength than 2# mono.

    ... but 2# braid will be even thinner. If he's having trouble tying knots with 4# mono, 2# braid will be like a spider web.

    Well, I use Berkley fireline crystal ice 2# It's white, and have no problems seeing it, and tying knots with it.
