2lb for 1/32oz jigs?

I have it in my head that I want to cast 1/32oz jigs and small plastics. I bought a 6' UL St Croix panfish rod and equipped it with a President 25 and 4lb hi viz. I can cast it 20 -25 feet. Would going to 2lb increase the distance. The 4lb is so fine I have some difficulty tying knots. Am I going about this correctly, casting 1/32?

You might want to try a 2# braid, it will have much more strength than 2# mono.

... but 2# braid will be even thinner. If he's having trouble tying knots with 4# mono, 2# braid will be like a spider web.

Well, I use Berkley fireline crystal ice 2# It's white, and have no problems seeing it, and tying knots with it.
